Q&A with Tara Perkinson

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your career?

A: Jim Secrest and Mike Hill.

Q: What traits do you think are most important for a defense lawyer to possess?

A: The ability to view a case with objectivity and deliver the unvarnished truth to someone who might not want to hear it. Multitasking is also high on the list.

Q: What is a trial preparation tip that you would share with a young attorney trying his/her first case?

A: This is not so much a tip but an important maxim to remember as it relates to trials. Expect the unexpected. Something off the wall will happen in every trial regardless of how well prepared you are. These occurrences often make the best war stories.

Q: You work primarily on the defense side of cases. In your opinion, what makes a good Plaintiff’s attorney?

A: Civility and organization. These traits can go a long way in resolving a case with less fighting and discovery.

Q: Outside of work, what do you do for fun?

A: Yoga and English horseback riding/jumping

Q: 2020 was a messy year. What are you looking forward to most in 2021?

A: I am dying to travel. I am also looking forward to seeing people in person and not on a screen.
